Life can be a rollercoaster, can't it? One moment, I'm buzzing with creativity, and the next, I'm grappling with feelings that weigh me down. Lately, I've been diligently adding a variety of items to my shop, including an exciting lineup of new shirts. On top of that, I've finally learned how to connect my shop to Instagram and Facebook! But amidst all of this hustle, I’ve hit a snag—I haven’t crocheted in 17 days. It’s been tough, and I’ve felt a bit down. Thankfully, I have an appointment with my psychiatrist in three days, and I’m hopeful that I’ll be adjusting my medication soon and start feeling more like myself again.
As an artist, I often find myself navigating a complex relationship with my mental health. My creative process can be a double-edged sword—sometimes it serves as a wellspring of inspiration, while at other times, it triggers waves of emotional turmoil. I’ve learned to draw deeply from my personal experiences, including my own struggles with anxiety and depression, which often fuel my work. This vulnerability has led to some of my most profound artistic expressions, allowing me to connect with my audience on a deeper level. Yet, I also feel the weight of pressure to produce consistently, and the societal stigma surrounding mental health can sometimes feel overwhelming. I believe it’s crucial to create a supportive environment where we can openly discuss mental well-being. By doing so, we can help each other thrive, both creatively and personally.
The Excitement of New Products
Adding new shirts to my inventory has been a thrilling adventure. I love the process of taking pictures of the garments, adding them to my online inventory, and then picturing how my customers will wear them. Each shirt tells a story, and I aim to make that story resonate with those who choose to wear them.
I’ve been experimenting with vibrant styles and colors, trying to strike the perfect balance between trendy and timeless. Nature, art, and even small moments in daily life inspire me. When I stepped outside last week, I noticed the beautiful hues of my hydrangea.

As I add these new products to my shop, I feel a strong sense of accomplishment. Each shirt is the result of hours of hard work and passion. I’m eager to share them and see how my customers respond.
Connecting with Social Media
In addition to launching new products, I’ve taken significant steps to connect my shop to Instagram and Facebook. This was something I delayed for some time, but I finally decided it was time to dive in.
Social media can be a powerful tool for reaching new customers and building a community around my brand. I’ve learned how to create engaging posts, share behind-the-scenes glimpses of my creative process, and connect with fellow crocheters and entrepreneurs.

It’s been a learning curve, but I’m enjoying the journey. Seeing how other creators thrive on social media inspires me, and I’m excited to find my brand's voice in this space.
The Struggle with Crochet
Despite the buzz surrounding new products and social media, I’ve been struggling with my crochet lately. It’s been 17 long days since I last picked up my hook, and I can feel the absence of that beloved creative outlet weighing heavily on me.
Crochet has been my refuge for relaxation and self-expression. It’s a soothing process that allows me to focus on something tangible. However, when depression creeps in, it can be challenging to find the motivation to do what I love. Research shows that around 40% of people with depression feel a lack of interest in activities that once brought them joy.
I remind myself that it’s okay to take a break. Sometimes, life gets overwhelming, and it’s essential to listen to our bodies and minds. I’m hopeful that once I adjust my medication, I will rediscover that spark and return to crocheting.
Seeking Help and Support
I’m grateful for my upcoming appointment with my psychiatrist in just three days. It’s a step toward feeling better, and I’m optimistic that we can find the right balance with my medication.
Mental health plays a crucial role in our well-being. I believe it’s essential to seek help when necessary, whether from professionals or supportive friends and family. I’ve reached out to fellow crocheters and entrepreneurs who understand my struggles. Sharing experiences and hearing how others cope can be incredibly comforting.
Finding Joy in Small Moments
Though I may not be crocheting right now, I’m trying to find joy in the small moments of each day. Simple pleasures, like savoring a cup of coffee in the morning or talking with friends, help me appreciate life’s little things more.
I’ve also explored other creative outlets to keep my mind engaged. Sometimes, stepping away from crochet can bring a fresh perspective and reignite my passion for it. For instance, I’ve recently started blogging more, allowing words to flow onto the screen, which has added a new layer of joy to my life.

Looking Ahead
As I look forward to the days ahead, I’m filled with hope. I’m excited about the new shirts launching in my shop and the connections I’m cultivating on social media. I believe that once I adjust my medication, I will return to crocheting and rediscover the joy it brings.
Life is a journey filled with ups and downs, and it's okay to experience both along the way. I'm learning to embrace the process and trust that brighter days are on the horizon.
Final Thoughts
My journey of launching new shirts and managing crochet breaks has been filled with excitement and challenges. I’m grateful for the creative opportunities that lie ahead, and I’m hopeful for the progress in my mental health treatment.
If you’re also navigating the ups and downs of creativity and mental health, remember that you’re not alone. It’s okay to take breaks, seek help, and find joy in the little things. Here’s to new beginnings, fresh designs, and, hopefully, the return of crochet bliss!
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I look forward to sharing more about my new products and crochet adventures in the future!
