I recently had an incredible experience at a photography group session called Reflections in Frame. This event beautifully blended my love for photography and my personal collection and inventory of shawls and two handmade blankets, creating an enchanting atmosphere in a lush forest on a private property, Pole Garden, in Monroe, WA. With excitement in my heart, I anticipated how my shawls and blankets would serve as unique props in this artistic venture. The session featured five talented models and three creative photographers, all working together to turn a magical vision into reality.
Setting the Scene
The photoshoot’s location was simply enchanting, surrounded by towering trees and lush greenery. At the center of it all was a beautifully decorated frame, adorned with purple flowers, crystals, and whimsical mushrooms. It was set against a soft moss backdrop, which paired perfectly with a mirror decorated with rainbow-colored flowers and striking red mushrooms, adding delightful contrast to the scenery. Both the mirror and frame were made by Paige Bloom.
In fact, the area felt alive with nature's whispers as the organically colored moss seemed to invite creativity. I envisioned my shawls and blankets adding the perfect final touch to this vibrant display, enhancing the textures and colors of the environment. Research shows that natural settings can boost creativity by up to 50%, and I could certainly feel that energy flowing around us.

The Shawls and Blankets Take Center Stage
To me, my shawls represent more than just clothing; they are pieces of art that tell unique stories. I selected shawls that mirrored the forest's hues—soft lavenders, vibrant greens, and burnt oranges all made an appearance. Each model wore a shawl that highlighted its intricate details, allowing the fabric to weave its narrative.
The two blankets that had been selected were absolutely perfect with their unique designs and vibrant colors that added a touch of warmth and personality to any space. Each blanket was not just a functional piece but a work of art, lovingly crafted by skilled artisans who poured their creativity and passion into every stitch.
The first blanket was a stunning hexagon Afghan, featuring an intricate pattern of flowers that burst forth in vibrant fuchsia, deep blue, and variegated yarn, with its delightful green and pink speckles set against a crisp white base, created a visually striking contrast against grey hexagons that drew the eye with their intricate design. This blanket was not only cozy but also a visual delight, perfect for draping over a sofa or using as a throw on chilly evenings.
The second blanket was a classic granny square blanket, crafted in a beautiful array of rainbow colors arranged in perfect order. Each square was a small masterpiece, showcasing a spectrum of colors, each bordered in grey, that flowed seamlessly from one hue to the next. The bright reds, sunny yellows, cool blues, and rich violets came together to create a joyful and uplifting piece that was sure to brighten any room. This blanket not only provided warmth but also evoked a sense of nostalgia, reminding one of cozy family gatherings and cherished moments. Its playful design made it an ideal choice for children’s rooms or as a cheerful accent in living spaces.

As the session unfolded, the individuality of each model shone through. For instance, one model donned a soft lavender shawl that complemented her complexion and brought out the subtle colors of the forest. The photographers captured this dynamic interaction, taking over 2000 photos that showcased how my shawls transformed into stunning artistic expressions.

Body Jewelry: A Touch of Glamour
Alongside the shawls, we incorporated body jewelry to enhance the overall aesthetic. The shimmering pieces added complexity to the visuals. I selected jewelry that harmonized with the earthy tones of the forest and vibrant flowers, including delicate chains with crystals and bold earrings inspired by nature.
The photographers skillfully used the jewelry to play with light, resulting in an artistic effect. For example, one model's chunky earrings captured sunlight in a way that created stunning reflections on her shawl, generating a striking portrait. Observing this added layer of beauty was a highlight for me, as the jewelry helped craft a whimsical atmosphere in many of the photographs.

A Day Full of Creativity and Collaboration
The entire day buzzed with electric energy. The collaboration between the five models and three photographers resulted in an inspiring dynamic. We laughed, experimented, and learned from each other. Each photographer took the time to coach their models, ensuring they captured the perfect expression or movement, effectively blending fashion with nature.
Throughout the day, Captured Chimerism captured over 2000 striking images. They whittled it down to 182, each telling an interesting beautiful story. It felt like a shared dance—every twirl of a shawl, flicker of light, and burst of laughter contributed to a greater narrative. By the end of the day, I felt immense gratitude for everyone involved, knowing that the effort and passion of each person made this artistic experience truly unforgettable.

Reflecting on a Memorable Experience
As the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the forest, I found myself reflecting on this incredible day. Reflections in Frame was not just about photography; it was a celebration of creativity, art, and the stunning elements of nature.
My shawls and blankets played a crucial role that day, merging fashion with the essence of the forest. Watching my collection come alive through the talented photographers’ lenses felt like fulfilling a dream. This experience sparked a renewed passion within me for connection and collaboration.
I left with more than just photographs; I gained a deeper appreciation for photography and forged lasting friendships over our shared creativity. As I look forward to future collaborations, I encourage fellow enthusiasts to explore the power of props in photography. You might be surprised at the beautiful stories that unfold when unique pieces meet inspired settings. Until next time!
